Further to the Captain’s email of 15th September announcing my retirement, your Committee have decided to restructure to ensure continuity to the smooth running of the Sussex Golf Captains. The goal is to continue to have systems in place, so the transition is seamless with no disruption in the process of entering competitions or matches.
Although I officially stand down at the next AGM in April, from 1st January, Joe Angella (Eastbourne Downs) will be taking over the administration of the SGC. This means membership renewals and competition entries from that date will be processed by Joe. As Joe will be Captain from April this is clearly a big task to head up the organisation and all the events. The plan is to have event managers from the committee to supervise the running of each internal event.
I will continue to act as Treasurer, collating subs and entry fees until Ian Potter (Worthing) takes over the role in February. I will continue on the committee thereafter as web designer and produce our yearbook plus update our social media channels. Of course, I will be on hand to answer any questions the committee asks!
Nigel Wates (Nevill) will take over as Merchandise Manager and will be your point of contact for SGC clothing. You will still be able to place orders via the online shop on the website.
As mentioned previously, Phil Williamson (Haywards Heath) takes over from Dave Harmer as Match Secretary. He will adopt a more detailed role by organising the matches in their entirety.
From January 1st emails to email@example.com will go to Joe Angella. (mob: 07725 177105)
Ian Potter can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org
Mark Terry can be reached at email@example.com
Phil Williamson at firstname.lastname@example.org
Nigel Wates at email@example.com
The 2022 yearbook will reflect these new contact details. Also note my direct line 01273 486218 will cease on 31st December.
I just ask for your patience (especially on January 1st when our events ‘go live’) as you no doubt understand, the lion’s share of our income arrives in the first few days of the year and the amount of emails and information received is huge. Remember, it takes time to collate and process this activity.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support over the last 12 years, but I look forward to joining you on the other side of the registration desk and participate more in the fixtures and matches. I know you will join me is wishing every success to Joe and the new committee and do please continue to give them the kind words of encouragement that you have all given me over the years.
