President, Eddie Noyce (Left) awards the Salver to Tony Bauckham

A perfect day at Littlehampton Golf Club greeted the 81 competitors for President’s Day hosted by Eddie Noyce who was Captain there in 2002.

A two tee start, overseen by two efficient starters, Mike Wood and Eugene Ryan got everyone out on time playing individual Stableford off full handicap.

The winner with 43 points was Tony Bauckham, a Past Captain of Mannings Heath Golf Club now at West Sussex.

Second with 40 points was Nick Lee from Pyecombe

Third was Terry Vanhinsbergh of Cottesmore with 38 points just beating his club mate, Nigel Powell on count back in fourth.

Fifth place went to Keith Talbot of East Brighton.

Nearest the pins were:

Ian Potter - 3rd Hole

John Ballard - 6th Hole

Paul Delaney - 8th Hole

Tony Bauckham - 11th Hole

Andy Lamb - 16th Hole

Before Prize giving Club Captain, Bill Hoal welcomed everybody and said what a pleasure it was to host The Sussex Golf Captains and to be invited to play.  Eddie Noyce then went on to thank the starters, green-staff and the bar and catering staff.

A sumptuous buffet was prepared by Clair and her team and Eddie gave her a bottle of Champagne in appreciation as she was soon to retire.

Special thanks went to Ashley the Assistant General Manager for his attention to details and making sure everything was provided for and to Honorary Secretary, Mark Terry for all his help.

Eddie finished up by thanking John Elphick who made a quick visit as he was responsible for introducing Eddie to the SGC in 2002.
