The Bristow Tankards & Annual Dinner at East Sussex National

It was a beautiful Autumn Morning that greeted the 160 golfers who were playing in our flagship event, The Bristow Tankards at East Sussex National.

This competition first played in 1968, then known as The Dinner Cup precedes the Annual Black Tie Dinner.  This year the response was such that an additional competition was held on the East Course for those who could not get into the main event which was a shotgun start Better Ball competition on the picturesque West Course.

Captain, Brian Street was delighted that the winners were from Cowdray Park, his home club.  Brian Dormer and Martin Day returned a respectable 42 points to win this acclaimed title,

Second place with 41 points were Ian Wood and Bob Walker from Copthorne just beating John Teasdale and Jack Wright from Nevill on count back.

The East course competition was won by Tony Phillipou and Peter Mead from Highwoods Golf Club with 41 points.

The VIP guests competition also on the East was won by Richard Broderick and Eddie Wheeler the Captain and Secretary of the Surrey Golf Captains with 40 points.

Prize giving took place after the excellent dinner in The National Suite at the hotel and everyone was duly entertained by our guest speaker, Ian Irving.

A tremendous night was had by all.
